One of the traditional methods of storing water on
Kish Island
in ancient times was in water reservoirs. A twin water reservoir with
five wind catchers in the style of Yazd
city architecture was built within the enclosure of
Harireh Ancient
City
near the Green Tree Complex in 1993, where an ancient water reservoir
was located, for collecting rainwater. This traditional water reservoir
lost its main use due to the construction works done in
Kish which resulted in the destruction of
rainwater paths. The unique architecture of this
building reminds us of the old days. This attraction is very interesting
and worth visiting for local and foreign tourists. Wind catcher or wind
tower: A traditional style of architecture which is a special
ventilation structure on the roofs and creates a natural wind blow
inside the building during the summer time. |
